Nuby One Touch Electric Warmer & Sterilizer Review

The Nuby One Touch Electric Warmer and Sterilizer was meant specifically to make Brett’s life easier. True story. In fact, we love it so much that this product gets the distinct recognition of being in my very first video product review!!

Brett feeds Trent with a bottle during the day and he eats 3 bottles each day. At first, we figured we didn’t need a fancy-schmancy product to help in this area. Brett just ran the hot water into a large cup and placed the bottle in the cup until it was warm enough for Trent to approve EAT.

Oh boy, this method led to a frustrated baby! In the beginning when feeding times had yet to be exactly established, when Trent decided he was hungry, that bottle had better be ready. But it wasn’t, and the bottle-in-a-cup-of-hot-water method proved to take too long for his liking. Which led to crying….from Trent too. ;)

Then, by the time he would get the bottle, he would scarf it down so fast. Poor little guy.

We’ve had the bottle warmer for several months now and it is a MUST-HAVE for anyone that has to warm up multiple bottles each day. Seriously. I can’t even believe we tried to go without one now that we have it.

Since it looks nice and matches our kitchen color scheme, we leave it out on the counter for convenient use. You simply measure out how much water you need based on how many ounces of milk or formula are in the bottle and pour the water into the warmer. Then, place the bottle in the warmer, push down on the button to turn it on and walk away.

The water will start to steam up and once the water is gone and the orange light turns off, the bottle is ready!

It is so much faster and easier than dealing with a cup of hot water. It uses less water too!

It can also be used as a sterilizer and we also use it to warm up Trent’s baby food purees. The baby food storage containers that we use for our homemade baby food fit perfectly into the unit (they can be found here).

And, as always, I love that Nuby products are BPA free!

From Nuby:

The 2-in-1 design of this Natural Touchâ„¢ Warmer and Sterilizer evenly and safely warms breast milk, formula and baby food. Or you can use it as a quick and easy-to-use sterilizer for bottles and pacifiers. It sterilizes in just minutes! Simply use measuring cup (included) to add water, load the sterilizer and touch the button to start.

Nuby Nibbler Review

I’ve been holding onto the Nuby Nibbler for a few weeks, anxious for Trent to use it.

We’ve been waiting for the 6 month mark to start Trent on solid foods and thought the Nuby Nibbler would be perfect for him to learn with. I tend to be a little a lot more impatient than Brett, so I have been wanting to start solids for the past few weeks, but he said we should wait. Nevermind that his main reason is because he wants to postpone the crazy stinky diapers that come along with the solid-food territory…but alas! He can not postpone the inevitable forever!

So he better hold his nose and man up because it’s time for this baby to get his grub on!

From Nuby:

The Nûbyâ„¢ Nibblerâ„¢ is a great way to introduce soft solids when your child is ready. It allows your child to eat whole foods without the risk of choking. With the “Squeeze and Twist” Locking System, your child can safely use without risk of opening; meanwhile it is easy as 1-2-3 for parents to place food inside! The Nibblerâ„¢ also come with a convenient cap to keep it clean during travel and storage. Suggested whole foods (age appropriate) include: frozen fruits, fresh fruits, ice chips, veggies, and other similar foods.

I’ve mentioned it before, but we will be making our own baby food. We chose sweet potatoes as his first food to eat and he loved it! He even tried to take the spoon to do it himself. For his second food, we gave him a piece of banana in the Nibbler.

The Nibbler makes it easy to give your baby a healthy food even if you don’t have time to steam/mash/blend/puree. To put food into the Nibbler, just twist off the mesh holder from the handle, insert the food into the mesh and then twist back on.

Babies can then chew the mesh and work the food out of the tiny mesh holes, turning it into a consistency that is easy for them to swallow.

It comes with a cap, so you could put some food into the Nibbler before leaving the house and the cap will keep it safe. Or if you are going to a restaurant and you know you will want to give your baby some food there, you can bring the Nibbler along and the cap will keep it from getting dirty along the way.

To clean, just twist off the mesh holder part from the handle. I did find that banana wasn’t exactly the easiest thing to clean out of the Nibbler, as there were lots of itty bitty pieces to pull out of the mesh. Perhaps other foods will be a little easier.

Some other food ideas to use with the Nibbler:

Sweet Potatoes
Pears
Peaches
Nectarines
Avacado
Grapes
Cherries
Plums

For foods with skins that you can’t let your baby eat, just scoop out the insides to put into the mesh.

Once Trent realized there was yummy food in the Nibbler, he grabbed onto it and started sucking out the banana. He has been so curious, reaching for our cups, bowls and utensils whenever we eat, so it was nice to finally be able to hand him something and say “Here, have fun!” I think it also helps him learn to feed himself, as opposed to us just spoonfeeding him every time. We want him to be an independent little man!

Of course, this is my own personal experience and we have consulted with Trent’s pediatrician regarding his consumption of solid foods. Talk to your pediatrician if you have any questions or concerns.

Nuby 3 Stage Grow Non-Drip Bottle Review

I can see it now…the days when Trent can hold his own bottle and we don’t have to hold it for him and our hands can be free. Hand freedom! (I may or may not have just thrown up my Jazz Hands after typing that)

But for now, we are working on teaching him how to hold the bottle each time we give him one and we are getting close to hand freedom, for sure. One way we’ve been teaching him is by using the Nuby 3 Stage Grow Non-Drip Bottle.

From Nuby:

The Nûby™ 3 Stage Grow Nurser can be used from birth through to toddler. This unique feeding system starts as a bottle with the patented variable flow Non-Drip™ Nipple that features anti-colic valves to reduce the risk of colic and teething nubs to massage baby’s gums. The nipple is easy to use and prevents spills and leaks. As your baby begins to develop and grow, the easy grip handles are easily attached so they can start to feed themselves. The soft, silicone No-Spill™ Spout (included) replaces the nipple as your child begins the transition from bottle feeding to cups. No drips! No Spills! No mess! All smiles!

The first stage of the bottle is to use the non-drip nipple without the handles.

We are currently utilizing the 2nd stage of the bottle by using the non-drip nipple with the side handles for him to hold on to.

The handles screw on and off easily. They are easier for him to grip his hands around and if he gets distracted and lets go with one hand, it won’t cause the bottle to fall out of his mouth like it would a normal bottle with no handles.

When we first show him the bottle, he reaches out for it and wants to hold it. The thing we need to work on is getting him to keep it held upright enough to finish the bottle…and to not fall asleep while eating. I don’t blame him…eating makes me sleepy too. Perhaps it would be easier for him to hold up if it were a little smaller, but at least he can continue using it when he needs a bigger bottle/sippy cup.

He now also reaches for all of his bottles to hold them and he’s getting better at it each time. The Nuby 3 Stage Grow Nurser Bottle definitely helped him learn that bottles could be held by him too, not just by mommy and daddy.

The third stage is to replace the nipple with the No-Spill spout to help transition from drinking from a bottle to drinking from a cup. You can either leave the handles on or take them off.

I’ve mentioned the zCush Baby Nap Mat before HERE and HERE because of how much we liked it. It really was one of those products that we honestly didn’t think about or even know about prior to Trent being born, but were suddenly so grateful to have found it. When we saw it on Zulily shortly after he was born, we had a “Why didn’t we think of that?!” moment. We immediately purchased one on Amazon and used it every single day afterward until he ultimately grew out of it.

zCush Baby Nap Mat

I am seriously THE WORST at transferring Trent from one spot to another. I know that as a new mom, it as an acquired skill to pick up a sleeping baby without waking him up, so I figured I’d get better after several times.

I wish! I always dreaded moving him because I knew he would wake up immediately and then we’d be back at step 1 in the go-to-sleep routine. I actually began to rely on Brett as the baby-mover…untilwe got the zCush Baby Nap Mat.

Before he would fall asleep, we would put Trent in the nap mat and then feed him or rock him to sleep. We would then move him to the spot we wanted him to sleep (usually the Pack n Play) without waking him up because it’s like a big cushion under him that keeps him stable when being held. It zips up the side and bottom…I called it his baby sleeping bag. :)

The side zips open for easy access.

It truly was a lifesaver! Especially in those first few weeks where sleep is like a dinosaur…you know it existed at some point, but it has been so long that you tend to question its existence.

And because babies make messes, the mat and cover are machine washable!

The cushion and cover are machine-washable.

zCush has 5 recommended uses for the Baby Nap Mat: For baby’s naptime, holding and safely passing your baby to others, playing with baby in the comfort of your home or on a picnic blanket, cozily feeding baby on the sofa or the park bench, and easily changing baby’s diaper during daytime or in the middle of the night.

I am sad that the nap mat is now too small for my growing boy.

BIG BABY!

But we got plenty of use out of it for a few months. We got the froggy nap mat, so we fully intend on using it for our next little sleep monster. I highly doubt I’ll be an expert at transferring babies by then…or ever. #parentingfail

You can purchase the zCush Baby Nap Mat online at Amazon or at these local retailers. They offer 2 versions: cotton nap mats with different characters and colors (like the one above) and chenille in different colors.

I do want to tell you that this product was not provided to me for review. We purchased the nap mat ourselves and wanted to share a great product with everyone…especially since it’s not a product that everyone knows about. When we knew we wanted to do a review, we communicated with zCush and they graciously allowed us to offer a Baby Nap Mat as a giveaway to you fabulous readers!

**GIVEAWAY!!**

Thanks to the folks at zCush, one reader can win a zCush Baby Nap Mat! This would be perfect for any expecting mom or a parent or grandparent of a baby, whether that be you or as a gift for one that you know! Nuby Tub Time Turtle Review

I am so happy that I have a child that loves taking baths. In fact, bathtime has been one of my favorite times with Trent. He is so happy and plays with every single toy I hand him. For a while, he was too young to sit up or reach for anything, but now he is in full-on play mode in the bath, so toys are a necessity and I think we may even need more than what we already have! Baby needs variety!

One of his favorite bath toys is the Nuby Tub Time Turtle.

From Nuby:

Nuby’s new Tub Time Turtle™ is another fun and interactive bath time toy from Nûby™. Tub Time Turtle™ floats on the water’s surface so it is always within easy reach. Lift Tub Time Turtle™ out of the water to experience waterfall fun!

Trent likes to hold his hands underneath the falling water and then reach for the toy once the water runs out.

He grabs it and then does what he does with everything else…

Yup, right in the mouth. Om nom nom.

I just love that Nuby’s products are BPA free because this turtle gets chewed on constantly. He loves chewing on the fins and the eyes that stick out.

I like that this toy floats and is colorful, allowing him to see it and reach for it, and that it is also made of a soft, rubbery plastic, which is great since he chews on it and it won’t hurt him or make a loud noise in the tub if he drops it (or throws it!). I also like that it isn’t just a plain toy, it actually does something that stimulates him (him putting his hand under the falling water).

You can buy the Nuby Tub Time Turtle at:

www.amazon.com
