Mother’s Day

I know I’m a day early, but I also got my Mother’s Day gift from Trent and Brett a little early and just had to share.

Mothers Day Canvas

I came home from work the other day to these 3 canvas photos up on our bedroom wall. I love how each photo perfectly illustrates different aspects of his personality.

Mothers Day_

Brett took them while I was at work before we went on our trip. Those sneaky boys.

We’re happy the weather forecast improved for tomorrow. I swear, I don’t even know why I look at the weather forecast any more. I should just look the day before and that’s it. We will probably be going to the beach for a little while, then eat at Red Robin and do some shopping. I’m excited for Trent’s first trip to the beach!

These past 2 weeks since coming home from Disney World have been crazy busy…me at work and Brett with photography. We’re sloooowly working on the trip report and photos/videos, so hopefully we’ll be sharing those soon. We have another trip in June, as well his first birthday party, so fingers crossed we’ll have it all done by then!

I hope you enjoy your Mother’s Day!

Capture Your Memories with Help from Best Buy

With Mother’s Day and Father’s Day coming up, as well as special milestones like graduations, vacations and fun pool party birthdays, I know we’ll be making lots of memories that will lead to many frame-worthy photos. As a wife of a photographer, it’s times like these that I am grateful that I have someone there to capture all of our memories.

Sometimes I try to take photos using my smartphone, but I’ve been spoiled by him enough to know that my smartphone photos just won’t look anywhere near as good as the photos from his camera…which, coincidently, he purchased at Best Buy.

5D Mark III

Back when he was in the market to purchase his last camera, he searched all over to find the best deal. We always search around for the best deal, both online and in local stores. He found an amazing deal at Best Buy combined with a coupon and his Rewards Zone points. We’ve also purchased video cameras and other electronics at Best Buy in the past.

So the next time you are in the market for a new camera, head to Best Buy. They can help you never miss the important moments with a wide assortment of the latest cameras, including DSLR cameras, action camcorders, and compact cameras with long zoom, low light and wi-fi. Visit their Spring Memories page to see all their new options to capture your memories!

I also like knowing they have a low-price guarantee, so you can get the best deal. And if you’re like me, you have an existing camera that you don’t know what to do with once you upgrade. Bring it to Best Buy and trade it in for a Best Buy gift card! Problem solved.

Prefer to shop online? Bestbuy.com offers free shipping on all cameras! Sweet, right? Shipping is what stops me from buying almost everything online, so free shipping is my kinda deal.

And with many digital photo frames available, there’s no excuse not to display your photo memories. We have definitely been guilty of taking photos and letting them sit in the camera or computer, never to be shared. But now that we have Trent, we definitely make more of an effort to display our photos online and in our house. Click here for a coupon for an additional 25% off select digital photo frames at Bestbuy.com!

And don’t forget to have fun and smile during all the upcoming events and holidays…that makes the best memories…and photos. :)

10 Months

Wow, only 1 more monthly update until he is 1 year old. Crazytown.

Trent 10 Months

I’m going to keep it short and sweet compared to last month. Here is a quick update on our little munchkin.

He is a crawling monster. Although he still army crawls plenty, he has been full-on crawling a lot of time…especially on the tile. He loves walking using his IKEA push cart and will make his way all the way over to it just so he can walk around. We also just got him a walker and he seems to be getting the hang of it!

Going out to eat is so much fun now. We bring some snacks for him and give him some of our food, depending on what we’re eating, and everyone around interacts with him and he just eats it up (the food AND the attention!). It’s crazy to think back to the days when he was just a few days/weeks old and going out was such an event.

His 6th tooth is coming in. He has the 4 center teeth and then the bottom left and top right.

Trent 10 Months-2

As you can probably tell from the photos, getting these monthly photos is becoming increasingly difficult. He came thisclose to jumping off the side of the chair several times and by the time we did the tie-sticker photo, he had had enough and wanted us to know it. So we said to hell with it – just take the photo and everyone will get a good laugh at the fact that not all of our photos come out the way we want.

Let’s hope we get better photos at Disney World!

Happy Easter!

It wouldn’t be a holiday without a new holiday photo with the world’s most photographed baby!

We went to Trent’s First Easter Egg Hunt yesterday. It was held at the park near our house. They had the hunt divided by age group…Trent was in the 0-2 year old group. Before the event, I was a little worried that Trent wouldn’t get to participate at much, since he is on the younger end of the age range and I thought the older kids would be zooming by him and picking up all the eggs. Thankfully, there were so many eggs (SO MANY!) that he actually had his own little area all to himself.

The 0-2 age group was set up to hunt in the playground area, so we took advantage of it and had some fun on the swing.

We practiced our walking (I had just bought those shoes right before the event). Notice the concentration tongue? That would be a trait passed down from Daddy and his side of the family…you can expect the concentration tongue to be in plenty of photos.

He had fun picking up the eggs and I only had to show him once how to drop it into his monster Easter basket and he did a few of his own before deciding he had enough.

Then, we brought our eggs over to the prize table and picked out a little dinosaur stuffed animal.

We had fun at his first Easter egg hunt!

This morning, we gave him his Easter basket full of goodies. We only put a few things in there and right now he’s enjoying the Gerber Graduates Animal Cracker cookies, which is basically his Easter candy I suppose. He also got a Disney Easter zippy cup, some bubbles, socks with skulls on it (not Easter-themed, but pretty awesome), some board books and 2 things that I gave him a day early…a sock monkey with bunny ears and a rubber ducky with bunny ears.

Today, we’ll be enjoying a feast at Brett’s mom’s house and another egg hunt there. Trent’s cousins are a little older, so mean Auntie Lynn likes to REALLY hide the eggs…so much so that we always have 1-2 eggs that all the adults end up looking for at the end because no one could find them. Brett’s responsible for the sweet potatoes and he’ll be making Trent his own sweet potato. I’m excited to make him his own little food plate for the first time.

Did your little one participate in any egg hunts? Happy Easter!

9 Months

Happy 9 months to Trent!

Trent 9 months-2

Here are 9 things about 9 months:

1. We have officially retired the infant bathtub. The other weekend, we bought a no-slip bathmat and removed the infant tub. He would just try to climb out of the infant tub the entire time, so we figured it was time to give him a little more freedom. Now he tries to climb out of the tub or just wants to stand the entire time. Bath time hasn’t lasted quite as long as it used to in the infant tub…perhaps it’s because he just wants to roam free now that he can?

2. We upgraded Trent to a convertible car seat. This one will go up to 100 pounds, so he’ll be in it for quite awhile. He’s loving all the extra room and is ready for our Disney trip! The only downside is that with this type of seat with rear bucket seats, it doesn’t lean far back enough, so when he falls asleep, his head leans forward (and we feel so bad!). The manual actually suggests to cut a pool noodle and place it underneath the one side so it can lean back a little more.

Car seat

3. His “crawling” is more of an army crawl, but he gets where he wants to go just as fast, it seems. He pulls himself up to stand all the time and moves alongside furniture that he can hold on to. I am grateful that we have carpet in most rooms of the house, so it is more comfortable to him, especially if he falls. We’ve baby proofed some things, but we have some more tasks on the list.

4. The other day, he started making Chewbacca noises and he hasn’t stopped.

Trent 9 months-3

5. We’ve picked a 1st birthday theme and we’ve started going Pin-crazy on Pinterest. But in true Svenson fashion, we haven’t told anyone yet (perhaps because we are always scared we’ll change our minds…) so thank goodness for secret Pinterest boards!

6. He loves his swing in the backyard! I just realized I forgot to to post anything about it, but several weeks ago, Brett built Trent a swing set in the backyard using this swing that Trent got for Christmas. Even though the park is only about a 10 minute walk away, having a swing in the yard has been so convenient and he gets to swing more often.

Swing

7. Trent had a mini-date last weekend! Brett has taken newborn, 3 month and 6 month photos of this sweet little girl and for her 6 month photos, we all took a trip to a nearby park/lake. Of course, we couldn’t resist setting up some play-time on a blanket. Isn’t that lake such a nice picturesque background for a first date? hehe They stared at each other for a little bit, touched each other’s faces and then ventured off to try to chomp on grass and leaves. Sounds like a successful first date to me!

Trent's Date

8. He’s still being a picky eater and still doesn’t like peas, carrots or ground turkey on their own. We’ve given him small bits of cheese, yogurt drops, and are still going strong with past favorites: sweet potatoes, pears, blueberries and applesauce. Often, we’ll try to give him something we’re eating, but it’s usually a no go. He did really well when we braved Outback Steakhouse last Friday…it was an hour wait and then an hour long dinner. We ordered him a plain sweet potato and ate the entire thing and was just a happy baby the entire time. Same thing at Sonny’s – give the kid a sweet potato and he’s good to go.

9. Happy St. Patrick’s Day!
