A few weekends ago, my lovely mother-in-law and sister-in-law threw us our baby shower! Warning…lots of cute photos ahead!
The theme was kept a secret from me, but everyone else knew beforehand, including Brett! What would be a fitting theme for a couple of Disney fanatics?
A colorful Mickey theme, of course!
The colorful aspect fit perfectly, since Trent’s nursery is very colorful (we’ll be posting those photos very soon!), and Mickey was everywhere we looked!
Mickey Flower Pot
{To make the Mickey flower pot, get a red flower pot (or any flower pot and spray paint it red), then super glue two large white buttons to the top…making it look like Mickey’s bottoms! The Mickey head is just one large styrofoam ball and two small ones held together by sticks and painted black. Don’t use regular spray paint for these, as it tends to eat at the styrofoam. You should be able to find styrofoam approved spray paint from a craft store.}

Even the food was Mickey-shaped! Maybe Disney can take some pointers from these party planners.
Mickey shaped sandwiches!
{To make the Mickey sandwiches, use a Mickey cookie cutter, like the one found HERE, and press down on the lunch meat, cheese and bread. The round flat breads work great for this.}

{to make the Mickey Oreos:
Regular sized Oreos
Mini Oreos
red candy melts
chocolate candy melts
White round sprinkles or white frosting for buttons
Heat the candy melts according to package directions. Twist apart the mini Oreos and insert each side into the creme of the regular sized Oreo as the Mickey ears. Dip half of the regular cookies into the red candy, place on waxed paper, and apply buttons (sprinkles or frosting). Let the candy coating set up or place in the refrigerator for about 5 minutes.}

As the guests arrived, we ate and talked about pregnancy happenings, Trent’s upcoming arrival, plans for maternity photos, anything else baby related and some non-baby related stuff, too. It was nice to catch up with friends and family.
Filling out advice cards
We then gathered for some traditional baby shower games. The first game was for everyone to guess the size of my pregnant belly. This is when I had to get super friendly with everyone!
Some were too short…
Others were waaaay too big!
Brett’s guess didn’t count, but just for fun, he took a guess and was right on the money! I guess looking at me every day could have had something to do with it!
The next games were trivia and word games…everyone had to put their thinking caps on to win some prizes!

After the games, it was time for gifts!
We got lots of cute clothes, a swing, bouncy seat, bath items and more of the bazillion items that babies don’t need need.

After the gift fun, we enjoyed some cupcakes, coffee and some more gabbing.
It was a nice gathering of friends and family to celebrate the upcoming arrival of our new family member.
