Most of our friends and family know that we didn’t just think of Trent’s name out of thin air. Before we knew whether we were having a boy or a girl, I told Brett that I knew the girl’s name and that he could pick a boy’s name. It sounds easy enough just saying that, but picking a name for your kid that they will have to live with forever is tough work!
We didn’t want a Brett Junior…Lord knows we don’t need another Brett
We wanted something kind of unique, that isn’t too popular, but isn’t off-the-wall crazy either.
Brett drove himself mad thinking about it for a couple of weeks, but then we both thought of a name that we had always liked…
Trent.
Brett has always been a fan of Nine Inch Nails, the mastermind of which is Trent Reznor.
He even made me a fan after we went to their NIN/JA Farewell tour with Jane’s Addiction in 2009. Here are some photos from that awesome concert…we had front row tickets behind the mosh pit and they actually let us bring our cameras inside the venue!
So although we didn’t specifically name him after Trent Reznor, he was what gave us the idea.
Trent’s one bad a$$ baby.
Unfortunately, Trent kind of sounds like Brett, which I think I’m going to regret when he’s older and I try yelling for one of them.
Me: “Treeee-nntt!!!”
Brett: “What?!”
Me: “Nooo, TRENT!”
Trent: “WHO?!”
Brett: “HUH?!”
Me: “OMG nevermind”
I can just picture it now. But hey, it’s better than if both of their names were Brett, right?
So there you go, a little history of how our little man got his name. And some pretty rad photos from a kick-azz concert with a half-nekkid man. You’re welcome.

I lost the name battle the first go round. Robby really wanted a third and I didn’t. I wanted his first name to be Everett and then pick a different middle name. I never thought naming a baby would cause so much arguing!! Lol we “compromised” (really, I gave in). He’s a third but goes by his middle name, Everett. However, Robby gave up all future naming rights. He gets absolutely NO say in the name of this new one. NONE WHAT SO EVER!!! I even threatened to withhold the name until they come in for the birth certificate.
Oh my goodness this made me laugh! I was lucky that Brett absolutely didn’t want a Junior, but we are notoriously bad decision makers. When do you find out the sex?
We’ll find out in a couple more weeks. I forget the exact date of the appointment. I don’t have any ideas for either sex at this point. But, like you, I want something unique but not totally off the wall.
I love the name Trent, it’s actually one of my favorite boyish names. When me and my husband were considering names for our newest we knew before we were even pregnant what we the name would be if it was a boy, however a girl we had absolutely no idea, and what do you know we ended up with a little girl. We had decided on a name and I ended up wanting to change it at around 20 weeks because it just didn’t feel right. It’s hard picking something for someone that they are going to live with for the rest of their lives and is potentially going to determine how their life plays out. We now have a name that I am both happy with and I think she will be happy with. I like for my kids to have different but not totally crazy first names and then traditional or meaningful middle names. My oldest is Laykin Lynn Rachelle (Lynn is after my grandmother and Rachelle is after her aunt.) My second is Paetyn Isabella Faith (no name meanings there, I just thought it was pretty.
) and this baby will be Rowynn Dyana Kay (Dyana is after my mom and Kay is after my husbands mom).
Those names are pretty and unique!
