Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream Review

When BzzAgent sent me an invite to join their campaign to try Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream, I jumped at the chance. I love trying new lotions and creams, since I use it every day and go through bottles really fast.

But when I saw that one of the recommended activities was to post my manicure routine, I almost fell out of my chair from laughing. I am the absolute LAST person that should be talking about manicures, after all, my fingers look like this by the end of every week.

Isn’t that disgusting? Yuck. {hangs head in shame}

But then I thought about it…I try so very hard to make my nails not look so bad in spite of my disgustingly bad habit. I HAVE TO give myself a manicure every weekend or else I spend the entire next week sitting on my hands trying to hide them from everyone at work. So I guess I actually have plenty of experience with manicures. Every time I make any sort of resolution to be better, I am good for a little while, but if I ever skip a manicure, it’s all over with.

So I posted that photo above in an effort of putting myself out there (and embarrassing myself) and holding myself accountable. Feel free to comment on how gross that is…I can take it. :(

I tend to be worse when my cuticles get really dry and I pick at them. For this reason, I am always looking for a good lotion to help. One of the first things I do when I get to work is put lotion on my hands. But most lotions wash off as soon as I wash my hands the first time.

Not the Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream.

Neutrogena Hand Cream

From Neutrogena:

  • Long-lasting
  • Glycerin-rich

Hit the healthy-skin trifecta: nails, hands and lips

Norwegian Formula® Hand Cream doesn’t just heal damaged digits; its formula works wonders on lips, too. So replace your ordinary lip balm with a concentrated dose of glycerin — you’ll be smiling comfortably in no time, whether you’re hiking sub-zero tundra or just walking to your mailbox.

This stuff is thick. Almost like a gel consistency.

Which is why you really just need the tiniest of dabs to work. I have learned it is best to put a dab on the back of my hand and rub the backs of my hands together and then massage some directly into my nails and surrounding areas. This allows me to moisturize without having it on the palms of my hands, because it is so thick. The best part is that I am able to wash my hands at least 2-3 times before I need to use more, keeping my hands and nails moisturized longer.

Because I only need such a small amount, the small 2 oz. bottle (and travel sizes) is perfect to keep on my desk at work or in my purse and last a long time.

Hand Cream

As far as manicures go, I keep it pretty simple.

1. I remove my old polish. (I only use clear coat or OPI Nail Envy – my nails are too gross to wear colored nail polish sincethat would draw attention to them – maybe one day I can wear cute colors, but for now I save the colors for my toes)

2. I squeeze Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover onto my cuticles, let sit for 15 seconds and rinse off.

3. Use a cuticle trimmer to remove dead cuticle pieces and push back rest of cuticles.

4. File nails and smooth nail beds with a nail file.

5. Wash and dry hands.

6. Paint nails with clear coat or OPI Nail Envy.

7. Once hands are dry, put lotion on.

8. Try not to bite…

That’s pretty much it.

My nails have made it through the winter so far without getting too dry or cracking. And after my “manicure” and consistent lotion use, they are at least looking a little better.
