As much as I wanted to be perfect and have my kids drink only water, there was no way I could stick with it seeing as even I couldn’t drink water 100% of the time. Sometimes you just need something with flavor, and for kids, something that’s also fun. But, if I’m going to give Trent juice, I look for 100% juice…and a brand we reach for is Juicy Juice!
I like Juicy Juice because it’s available in our local grocery store and will often be on sale. Trent likes it, and even though I still get a little nervous about juice getting on the carpet, he enjoys having his own little juice box.
Trent loves fruit snacks, so when I saw a recipe for Juicy Juicy Gummies, I wanted to try it! You only need 2 ingredients and it’s a pretty simple way to make a healthy snack at home.
- 1½ cups of Juicy Juice – any of the flavors work great!
- 4 tablespoons of plain gelatin
- Pour the Juicy Juice into a small pot. Gently add in the gelatin powder and allow it to absorb for a few minutes.
- Once the gelatin has absorbed, whisk the mixture gently.
- Turn on your stove to medium heat, getting the mixture warm but never boiling. Wait until the mixture changes from thick to runny and all of the gelatin has dissolved.
- Once ready, pour the mixture into a shallow loaf pan and refrigerate for four hours.
- Remove from pan.
That’s one big fruit gummy!
Cut the gelatin into bite-sized pieces.
Trent wasn’t so sure about them at first…
But finally took a chance and tried one!
We tried the Grape flavor and while the flavor wasn’t as strong as we would have hoped, we think maybe the Fruit Punch would be fun to try too. Not bad for a 100% juice fruit snack made at home.
Trent thought they fun to play with. 😉
Leading 100% juice brand, Juicy Juice commissioned a survey that provides insights into parents’ attitudes, understanding and buying habits regarding juice and their kids. The study found that nearly one-third of moms who don’t purchase 100 percent juice for their children cite additives as the primary reason, while in fact 100 percent juice products contain no added sugars, other sweeteners, colors or preservatives. Despite widespread reports in recent years of concerns about sugar content in juice, the Juicy Juice survey found today’s parents making 100 percent juice a big part of their kids’ healthy beverage repertoires. Among related findings:
- Milk (purchased regularly by 94% of moms), 100% juice (82%) and bottled water (72%) rank 1-3 in household beverage purchases.
- 87% of kids drink 100% juice, almost on par with those who drink milk (90%).
- 73% of kids drink the same amount or more juice than their parents did when they were kids, likely due to a proliferation in varieties, blends and convenient packaging options for busy, on-the-go families.
- Over 60% of parents rightfully do not believe that juice and juice drinks are one and the same. Juice drinks do not contain only 100% fruit juice and often include added sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, artificial dyes and other additives.
Toward helping parents make better informed juice purchasing choices, Juicy Juice recently updated its website to highlight nutritional content, educating parents what to look for when reading any juice label and to help cut through the clutter. Juicy Juice is available in 12 fruity flavors including Apple Raspberry, Kiwi Strawberry, Mango and Fruit Punch.
